MOTAT

Ki Ora bloggers have you ever been to MOTAT… Well on Wednesday the 30th of august MOTAT came to Wesley intermediate school to teach us about simple machines. Can you name any simple machines?… There are 6 simple machines: Pulley, Wedge, Incline plane, Wheel and Axel, Lever, and Finally Screw.

At the start the MOTAT Worker Aiden and Jazmine introduced themselves, Then told us about simple machines and how they work. We then had to get into groups of three to create our own marble run out of little simple machines, Then at the end connect all of it to make a Super marble run. We then had options to make one. The hardest was called The trap door – pulley.

In my group it was, Me, Elijah and Murtaza, and we were pretty smart, so we picked the hardest one of them all, The Trap door pulley. We started off with getting equipment that Aiden and Jazmine provided for us to use. There was a big board each group had with a lot of holes in it. With every board having one letter in the word MOTAT on it. The holes were for the sticks we would put in and the ramps we would stick down with tape.

Our group’s idea was to use 4 of 6 simple machines and create a super marble run. First we got a cardboard ramp and taped it on top of 2 sticks we then put another stick in the middle at the top and taped a cup to it. On the other part of the string it was a lot higher and taped to a cardboard on top of sticks, with a marble on it and ramps under it. The goal was to get the first marble into the cup then pull down the cardboard, making the other marble fall down into another cup.

It worked out great and then we connected it to the other groups marble run. From this experience i learned a lot of great things, like how to work simple machines and also, how to work with my friends without mucking around. The most challenging thing was getting all the equipment and sticking in the sticks, because some of the holes were uneven. In my opinion overall it was a great experience, one of the best i’ve had in a long time.

Dirty work

On Wednesday the 28th of June, The Wesley intermediate school went on a trip to a play called Dirty Work. When we were on the bus most of us were playing a game called Shadowbox. I won about 8 games before we got to the place. Once we got there we all were inside the kitchen and were chilling and talking. Me and my friends were arm wrestling. We quickly got asked to get in line and started walking the Q – theatre (the name of the theatre). Well we were waiting for it to start, again we were playing shadowbox and having a lot of fun, sad we weren’t allowed to bring any snacks, we had to starve to death.

When the play started it was pretty boring, until they started taking action and started making us laugh. There’s not that much to say about the play, in my opinion i’d rate it a 5/10, It was pretty funny tho. After the play we went back on the bus and most of us were tired and wanted to sleep. Some of us like me were still playing shadowbox. When we got to school we ate lunch and then had playtime. I would rate the whole experience a 7.5/10.

Navigation

Ki Ora bloggers, on the 27th of April Puriri have been learning about navigation, do you know what navigation is? Navigation is the science of getting ships or spacecrafts from place to place, and finding your different ways to get too different places, like the Ancient Minoans, found out how to use the stars to guide there way across the sea. There are different tools and apps to use for directions like a compass, or google maps.  In my opinion the best to use is google maps on your phone.

Do you know any navigators?.

The Permanet Venom

One early morning there lived a boy named Bryce. But one day he woke up to the sound of thunder… but when he looked outside it was clear, nothing was there, nothing except an Egg… The egg had some kind of purple aura around it, like there was some kind of demonic creature in there. Bryce quickly ran to the front door, but by the time he opened it, it started to crack. (*crack noises*) He moved back as it exploded! BOOM! I opened my eyes and saw a purple ball rolling… it quickly transformed into a mini purple venom… Days passed and it was just there sitting next to my door until it started following me. After a while I didn’t really care, it was just like an “Accessory” until it started talking to me.

FEED ME! It shouted with anger every time we walked past a restaurant, so I would get dog food to feed him. After a while I noticed that he started getting abilities, I saw him flying, I saw him shooting out purple acid, and different kinds of stuff. Once he even saved me from a robber, but he nearly killed him. He was a good friend.

Bush fired Writing by. Simione

This week the Keateam has been learning about bush fires and what they can do. Bush fires are extremely dangerous to different kinds of things like Animals, Humans and also harmful for the environment.         It sets smoke and ashes into the sky and pollutes the air. Did you know that a bush fire happened in Australia and set ashes flying all the way to New Zealand!

Bush fires are super bad for the trees because they burn them down and you need trees to breathe you need trees. It is also bad for the animals, because to every bush fire they have to flee their homes/habitats. Did you also know that Every bush fire combined has killed about 3 billion animals.

Super Nano girl!!!

On Monday the 9th of may 2022 The Super Nano-girl came to my school!!(Wesleyprimaryschool) She was so nice and showed us some of her super magic tricks! The whole school had to sit down in the hall for an Assembly. I was so excited because i was meeting a real scientist.

After we met Nano-Girl, Genesis Energy showed us some Nano-Girls experiments! In Genesis Energy there was two people showing us the magic tricks like one of them showed us that if u put soap in water and put fire inside the water it will make bubbles, then if u put those bubbles on your hand and light it the top of your hand on fire it doesn’t burn you or anything instead it looks like you have some fire power!

For the second experiment Rocket-Girl had 4 volunteers to come up and do a trick with them! The 4 volunteers were Robel,Ricky And 2 more they had to come up with a cup that had a whole at the bottom of it.They had to put a string in it and a stick at the end of the string , Then they got toilet paper and rubbed it on the string and it started making chicken noises it sounded really weird. Everyone was impressed so they added water to the toilet paper and it started making the loudest chicken noises i have ever heard in my whole life!

For the third trick Rocket-Girl chose 2 volunteers to come up, Tevita and Kael they each had to pick who was the aimer and one to stand still with a cup on his hair, when they decided Tevita was the aimer and Kael had to stay still with a cup on his hair!Tevita(the aimer) had to aim the thing i forgot what it was called it looked like a bazooka, Well Kael stands still with the cup on his head they stayed about 5 feet apart and Tevita fired! BOOM! The air from the bazooka managed to hit the cup off Kaels head but then Rocket-Girl said but can we shoot it all the way to the hall wall and i was thinking it was impossible until… THEY PULLED OUT THE BIGGEST BAZOOKA EVER!

They also got some smoke and put it inside the cannon when, Tevita Launched the bazooka it got shaped into a ring and it was spinning so fast it looked like it was staying still!BOOM! They launched the cannon once again it looked even better and when it hit the wall it looked like a mini explosion!

I Really enjoyed meeting Nano-Girl and Genesis Energy!
